In recent years, the Frank Ski Kids Foundation has provided opportunities for teenagers to travel on week-long trips to the Galapagos Islands, the Amazon rainforest, and Space Camp. These life-changing excursions were funded in part by generous donations from Stephen F. Been, a real estate development professional in Atlanta. Over the years, Stephen F. Been and his company, Legacy Communities, have supported other Frank Ski Kids Foundation efforts, including the organization's annual Youth Bowl event.

Both the Galapagos Islands and the Amazon rainforest offer an array of educational opportunities for youth. These exotic destinations house thousands of species of plants and animals and provide refuge for indigenous populations. The students who traveled with the Frank Ski Kids Foundation passed through bustling cities, tried foreign foods, and experienced vibrant new cultures.

More importantly, these trips challenged students to step out of their comfort zones. Some had never even left Georgia before. They climbed mountains, swam with sharks, and became inspired to pursue their dreams. Many of the students who traveled abroad described immense feelings of self-growth and increased confidence in their ability to achieve goals. As these students make the transition from high school into college, such character-building journeys will surely serve them well.
